Driver flashes handgun at another driver on 410 | BONNEY LAKE POLICE BLOTTER

Bonney Lake Police Blotter, Aug. 3, 2011.

FRAUD: Police on July 18 took a report from a resident who was advised by her bank that her debit card had been used in Texas. An unknown person made multiple withdraws of $100, though the victim reported still having her card. Police are investigating.

IDENTITY FRAUD: Police on July 19 were dispatched to the 11000 block of 179th Avenue Court East for a report of identity fraud. The victim received a call from a bank informing him that an account at a jewelry store was opened in his name, though he did not open one. He also received in the mail a card from a department store for which he did not sign up and discovered $650 had been withdrawn from his account. He also had a credit application denied. Police are investigating.

BURGLARY: Police on July 20 were dispatched to the 21100 block of state Route 410 for a report of a burglary. An employee from the New Perking reported that an unknown person or persons broke into an outside storage building and took three bags of voided pull tabs and some poker chips. The three bags of pull tabs were found in the woods behind the restaurant, but there was no sign of the poker chips. Police are continuing to investigate.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: Officers on July 21 were called to the 18300 block of  102 Street Court East for a report of a burglary. The homeowner stated the garage door was left open during the evening and when he left for work in the morning he noticed the door was open and several tools were missing. A file cabinet had also been rifled through. Police are investigating.

PROWL: Police took a report on July 21 from a woman whose car was prowled while parked at Prime Fitness. The victim reported nothing missing, but the passenger side window broken. Police are investigating.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE: Police on July 21 were dispatched to the 20500 block of 70th Street East for a report of a theft from vehicle. According to the victim, an unknown person or persons entered his unlocked vehicle and removed a cd player from the dash and a cell phone charger. Police are investigating.

SUSPICIOUS: Police in the early morning hours of July 23 were called to the 8400 block of 181st Avenue East for a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in a driveway of a vacant home. Police contacted the vehicle, which was occupied by a man who appeared to be passed out. Police could see a pair of pliers and a flashlight on the passenger seat. Officers woke the man, who said he had been involved in a verbal dispute with his wife and was just looking for a place to “chill out.” He said the pliers and flashlight were for vehicle maintenance. There were no signs of burglary at the house. With no evidence of criminal activity, the man was released.

MINORS IN POSSESSION: Police on July 23 were contacted by a concerned citizen who informed the police of a male at the skatepark in shorts, but no shirt or shoes, who appeared to be intoxicated and was falling down hurting himself. Police observed the suspect, who appeared intoxicated, but still trying to ride and had blood all over his body from road rash. Police immediately smelled intoxicants coming from the individual, who denied drinking, but said he had fallen six times. Police said that because of the way he was swaying , if he had not been drinking, they would have to call for medical attention to check for head trauma, at which time the individual admitted to drinking. The individual refused a breath test, but because of the bruises to his head, East Pierce transported the individual to Good Samaritan Hospital.

BEER RUN: Police in the early morning hours of July 25 were dispatched to the Chevron Market West on state Route 410 for a report of beer theft. Two teenage suspects entered the store and while the clerk’s back was tuned one of the males took an 18-pack of beer and fled the store. The employee ordered the second suspect to stay in the store and he put up his hands and said “I’m not going anywhere” before running away. Police are investigating.

SHOPLIFT: Officers were dispatched to Walmart July 25 for a report of a shoplifter in custody. Store security witnessed the suspect place several items of clothing and other merchandise in her purse and switch tags on other merchandise before trying to pay the wrong price for one item and then tried to leave the store without paying for others. The woman told police she was going through financial difficulty stemming from medical bills and could not afford to buy all of the items. The total value of the items was approximately $52. She was cited for theft and released.

GUN: Police in the evening of July 26 were dispatched to the 21400 block of state Route 410 for a report of a man with a gun. The suspect was driving a vehicle eastbound on SR410 and allegedly pointed a gun at an off-duty officer during a road rage incident. According to the victim, he pulled out of the Fred Meyer parking lot and behind the suspect vehicle, at which point the driver of the suspect vehicle began yelling and screaming at him,The reporting party said he pulled up next to the suspect vehicle to ask what he was yelling about and also told the suspect driver to hang up his phone while he was driving. At that time, the suspect allegedly displayed a handgun, racked a bullet in the chamber and aimed it at the victim. Police followed the suspect vehicle into Buckley, stopping him before the bridge and the suspect was taken in to custody without incident. The suspect told police he was just driving when the reporting party drive up next to him and yelled at him to hang up his phone while driving and then seemed to try and ram his vehicle. The suspect said he was acred and took out his handgun and showed it to the other driver, though he denied pointing it at him. The suspect said he was truly in fear so he displayed his weapon. Police also spoke to a witness who said he was following the suspect vehicle when out of nowhere the reporting party’s car pulled in front of him, forcing him to slam on his brakes. The witness also said the reporting party’s vehicle swerved into the left lane and the two drivers began yelling at each other. The witness said the reporting party’s vehicle was driving erratically and almost hit the suspect vehicle. The suspect was  transported to Pierce County Jail and booked on assault charges. The case was forwarded to the Pierce County Prosecutor for final review and possible charges.

BEER THEFT: Police on July 27 were dispatched to the Chevron West for a report of a shoplift. An unknown suspect entered the store, grabbed two 18-packs of beer and attempted to flee without paying. He slipped on the floor and dropped one of the cases and then fled with the other, dropping it in the parking lot. Later, police were dispatched to the AMPM West for a report of a suspect matching the same description stealing two cases of beer and fleeing on foot. Police are investigating.
