Buckley residents were awakened by the sound of gunfire at 2 a.m. Saturday and perhaps a dozen 911 calls poured into the call center regarding a noisy incident on Cascade Street.

Two males were said to have fled the scene when officers arrived, but the seven people who remained testified that the uprising had started with a loud argument in their neighbor’s front yard and an ensuing five or six shots fired from a small-caliber rifle.

Buckley officers performed a safety sweep of the house, then obtained a search warrant. They discovered the gun that was mostly likely fired, confiscating it for evidence and disassembling a modest marijuana growing operation inside the home.

Police Chief James Arsanto said that he was pleased with the swift response from neighboring law enforcement officers from Enumclaw and Bonney Lake, who assisted in securing the crime scene. Two suspects were incarcerated in the Pierce County jail within hours of the incident on pending felony drug charges.
