Kindergarten registration ready to open

The Enumclaw School District will host its kindergarten registration and orientations as follows: Black Diamond Elementary School, 6:30 p.m. April 1, 360-802-7573; Byron Kibler Elementary School by appointment, 6:30, 7 and 7:30 p.m. March 30, call 360-802-7263; Southwood Elementary School, 6:30 p.m. April 1, 360-802-7373; Sunrise Elementary School, 6:30 p.m. April 1, 360-802-7425; Westwood Elementary School, 1:30 and 6 p.m. April 1, 360-802-7620.

Children must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 31. A parent must present a child’s birth certificate at registration. Washington state immunization requirements must be met and proof of residence must be provided.

Enumclaw School District offers a funded half-day program as well as a fee-based full-day program, five days per week. For information, contact the school.

White River begins sign up for kindergarten

White River School District kindergarten registration for the 2010-11 school year will take place at Elk Ridge, Foothills, Mountain Meadow and Wilkeson elementary schools March 16. Registration times are 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m., except at Mountain Meadow, which will start at 9 a.m.

Children must be 5 years old by midnight Aug. 31 to register for the 2010-11 school year.

At the time of registration, parents need to provide: a copy of the child’s birth certificate, proof of residence, the most current immunization record, names, addresses and phone numbers of at least two individuals (other than the parent) who can be contacted in case of an emergency, the name and phone number of the child’s doctor and dentist and the child being registered for kindergarten.

White River offers a half-day, every day program at all elementary schools. A full day, tuition-based kindergarten class is offered at schools that have sufficient enrollment for the class.

Early kindergarten is a half-day program geared toward students whose birthdays fall between Sept. 1 and Dec. 31, or for older children who are not quite ready to start regular kindergarten. For information about early kindergarten, call 360-829-3814.
