EHS home football games being moved to Orting High

The Enumclaw High Hornets will play their next two home games on the road.

The Enumclaw High Hornets will play their next two home games on the road.

The Hornets are slated to take on the Lakes Lancers Friday, Oct 15, and host the Peninsula Seahawks Oct. 29. Due to the condition of the Pete’s Pool football field, however, the school decided it must play elsewhere. Athletic Director Kevin Smith said several sites were considered – White River High, Bonney Lake High and Sunset Chev Stadium at Sumner High – before it was decided the Hornets’ two remaining “home” games will be played in Orting.

The other venues could offer only one of the necessary dates, Smith said, explaining the decision to play in Orting.

Pete’s Pool, the Hornets’ home for many decades, has become a busy place. It is used by two youth football programs, the Wolverines and Junior Hornets, as well as the Green River Community College squad. The youth teams practice on the field during the week.

Enumclaw’s regular staff will be on hand, so things should operate smoothly, Smith said. He added that all ASB cards and game passes will be honored, and game pricing will be the same. The field is officially on the grounds of Orting Middle School, but the venue is adjacent to the high school.
