Buckley public works supervisor John Dansby and his crew kept busy last week sprucing up and prepping the welcome sign on the east end of Buckley for the Log Show.

&#8220The Log Show is a huge deal for this city, so we stepped up the time frame a little, to try to get as much as we had planned done,” he said.

&#8220We attempted to at least cap off the brick work next to the sign and put some flowers around it. We also bulldozed some of the brush and trees out of there to prepare and level off that landscape for future phases,” he added.

Further beautification will take place during the course of the summer as city workers will be installing solar panels, with which to illuminate the sign at night. &#8220The sign is just so far away from any source of electricity that we figured we'd try the solar source first and see how that works out. We are also considering putting up a couple of flagpoles,” Dansby said. &#8220Things are still sort of in the drawing board stage in regards to some of these ideas.”

Another method the city will use to make the sign more aesthetically pleasing is putting down a variety of gravel called &#8220Palomino” which will match the color of the sandstone sign, as opposed the trying to put in grass.
