Enumclaw Plateau Farmer’s Market third in “state choice” competition

Thousands of people support the market every year — which could be enough to boost Enumclaw into regionals by Sept. 30.

Thousands of people support local farmers, producers, and crafters every week at the Enumclaw Plateau Farmer’s Market — but there’s another way you can support it, too.

The American Farmland Trust hosts an annual “America’s Farmers Market Celebration” from Aug. 1 to Sept. 30, giving people the chance to nominate their local markets as the best in the state, region, or country via individual votes.

The national winner, also known as the “People’s Choice” award, received a $2,500 reward, and the next nine most popular markets get awards as well.

Other regional and state winners will receive other non-monetary prizes.

At this time, Enumclaw is in the running for the state competition — technically — standing at 39 votes as of Sept. 10.

In second place is the Maple Valley Farmers’ Market at 185 and the Auburn Farmers Market at 469.

The Auburn Farmers Market is also first in the Pacific Northwest region; Maple Valley is fourth.

The Charlottesville City Market in Virginia is currently first in the nation at 1,505 votes.

Please note that duplicate votes will be nullified, as all votes are examined by the AFT or a third party at the organization’s discretion.
