TRUCK IN DITCH: Police responded at 10:40 a.m. Nov. 22 to the corner of Battersby Avenue and Garrett Street, where a delivery truck wound up in a ditch. An officer provided traffic control until the road could be opened.

INVOLUNTARY: A local citizen told police Nov. 22 a friend was asking for help in obtaining drugs so he could overdose. Officers responded; the subject was taken to Enumclaw Regional Hospital on an involuntary commitment.

OUT OF CONTROL: Police responded the afternoon of Nov 22 to a Chinook Avenue address after hearing of an out-of-control youth. Investigation revealed there had been no assault, but there were plenty of family issues. Counseling was provided and a parent agreed to complete and file a youth-at-risk petition.

SUICIDAL: Police responded Nov. 22 to a Roosevelt Avenue address to check on an occupant who was threatening suicide. Police also received a call from a crisis center who had the resident on the line. Police contacted the subject, who was transported without incident to Enumclaw Regional Hospital on an involuntary commitment. Due to a military affiliation, representatives from the Army also were en route to the hospital.

SNOW CALLS: Police received numerous calls Nov. 22 relating to people and snow. There were several reports of kids tossing snowballs at passing cars; at least one report of a vehicle doing “doughnuts” in a parking lot; another call about a sledder being pulled behind a car on Bathke Avenue; and one call regarding a pair of snowmobiles being driven on paved roads. On Nov. 21, police took a complaint about juveniles who built an offensive snow sculpture in a park; after being contacted, they agreed to take it down.

FIGHT: A Nov. 21 report of a fight between three known male subjects at Charwila Lane and Warner Avenue resulted in one taken into custody for fourth-degree assault.

PANHANDLING: Police were called about a man who was panhandling Nov. 20 outside a Monroe Avenue business. The man denied the allegation but agreed to move on.

INTOXICATED: A motorist called police Nov. 19 after nearly being struck by a Dodge pickup in the vicinity of Kibler Avenue and Clovercrest Street. Police stopped the suspect vehicle and the driver was booked for driving under the influence.

ASSAULT: Police were told Nov. 18 of an assault that occurred earlier in the day on a school bus. A report was taken.
