Enumclaw Rotary Club names Russell, Snoen Students of the Month

The Enumclaw Rotary Club recognized two area students as Students of the Month at its Thursday meeting.

The Enumclaw Rotary Club recognized two area students as Students of the Month at its Thursday meeting.

Ronnie Russell, son of Kim and Ron Russell of Buckley, was the recipient from White River High School. He has a 3.9 grade-point average while taking seven advanced placement courses. He is vice president of the National Honor Society and has also participated in the school’s Associated Student Body (ASB) government, band, track and cross country. He has been accepted to the University of Washington, plans to major in chemistry and hopes to pursue a career in medicine.

Melissa Snoen, daughter of Michelle and David of Enumclaw, was the recipient from Enumclaw High School. She also has a 3.9 grade-point average and has taken eight advanced placement courses during the past two years. At EHS, she is a member of National Honor Society, Key Club and the ASB leadership team. A dancer, Snoen is involved with The Ballet Workshop, is the principle dancer with the Plateau Ballet Repertory Theatre and this summer participated as part of the Ballet Ambassadors to China program. She also teaches classes there. In addition to dance, outside the classroom, Snoen is part of an outreach dance performance team that entertains at senior centers, nursing homes and schools. She is also a religious education assistant and performs outreach at her church and was a Relay For Life participant. Although undecided about a specific school, she is planning to attend a four-year university where she can study both dance and business.
