An Enumclaw woman has been charged in King County Superior Court with assaulting a child.

Chastity Renee Dufour, 25, was charged following an initial investigation by the Enumclaw Police Department. She was charged Friday, July 6, and is slated for a July 19 arraignment at the Regional Justice Center in Kent.

According to Superior Court charging documents, EPD Det. Grant McCall responded May 29 to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma after hospital staff reported a child abuse case. The victim, a 3-year-old boy, was in intensive care.

A doctor wrote of a brain hemorrhage and numerous bruises on the boy’s head, chest and back. The injuries, he reported, were consistent with “nonaccidental trauma.”

Court papers document that the child was “partially blinded and will have lasting neurological and physical challenges after suffering repeated assaults at the hands of the defendant.”

The source of the woman’s anger, papers said, was toilet training.

Dufour is the girlfriend of the 3-year-old’s father.
