Enumclaw native Justin Grennan, fresh off a featured appearance on NBC’s hit show “The Voice,” has agreed to perform for a Saturday-night audience at this year’s King County Fair.

The 33-year-old Grennan, who graduated from Enumclaw High in 1996 and moved to Southern California in 2003, plays throughout the Los Angeles area. He was one of an estimated 30,000 to 40,000 hopefuls who initially auditioned for NBC’s first-year show and was among 60 given serious consideration. He then made the field of 32 after being tabbed by megastar Christina Aguilera to be part of her eight-person team. He was featured on the May 17 episode of “The Voice,” belting out The Who’s rock classic “Baba O’Riley” and competing against another Aguilera teammate.

As part of the program, Aguilera had to keep one of the performers. Grennan received rave reviews from other celebrity judges, but Aguilera made the tough call to cut him loose.

John Damazio, who is booking acts for the July 7-10 fair in Enumclaw, used local contacts to track down Grennan. A deal was quickly struck and Grennan is slated to perform a one-hour solo show at 8 p.m. July 9.

This year’s event, to be staged at the Enumclaw Expo Center, is being put on by Universal Fairs. It is the first time an outside company has been responsible for the fair.
