Family and friends of Bob Dietrich are asking for the community’s support.

Deitrich is a 43-year-old husband and father of two who lives in Bonney Lake and has roots in the Buckley community. According to friends, in the past year, Deitrich was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. After his diagnosis, he began chemotherapy and cancer treatment. This has taken a heavy emotional and financial toll on he and his family. Deitrich, who is employed by Hexcel in Kent, has been out of work since July.

His family and friends are planning a fundraising auction at 6 p.m. Jan. 31, at the Eagles Hall in Buckley to help out.

Deitrich and his wife Becky grew up in the area and have lived in Bonney Lake since they were married 19 years ago. He has been a volunteer, and touched many lives, through his time with the Bonney Lake Fire Department and as a softball and baseball coach. His wife works in the special education department of Elk Ridge Elementary School in Buckley. Their children are students in the White River School district.

According to organizers, the auction will raise funds for the Dietrich family as they face the challenge of their lives. From 6 to 7 p.m., there will be a social hour with dessert and a no-host bar, and from 7 to 9 p.m. the silent and live auction portion will take place with entertainment provided by the White River High School jazz band.
