Special to the Courier-Herald by Sherry Creson, President of the Bonney Lake Senior Center Advisory Board:

The Bonney Lake Senior Center has a Bingo program that allows youngsters on Friday night. They must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. It serves as family time for the participants as well as a fund raiser for the center. There is a snack bar for a few munchies like candy, chips, and pop. Sales start by 6:30 PM and the calling of numbers promptly at 7:00 PM. You can play all games for as little as $6.00, which is cheaper than the movies. And you could win cash prizes! Come early for a good seat!

The Bingo program is one of the fund raising activities sponsored by the Senior Advisory Board to enable them to supplement senior foot care, provide funds for special events, work with the Bonney Lake Kiwanis to help seniors with basic household chores and repairs, give monetary donations to the local Lions 4 Kids House, Bonney Lake Food Bank, and Sumner School District to help provide school supplies for low income students.

Attendance has dropped off from what it was a few years ago and the income has diminished as a result. In addition to that, more volunteers are needed to assist with running the program. If you can donate four hours on a Friday night, or help with the Wednesday afternoon Adult Only session, the center staff would love to hear from you. You can play as you work, too!

Get a group together and come on out to play Bingo. Spend some quality time with the kids and help support the senior center. There is also a 50/50 drawing at the end of each session to give away half of the ticket amount sold.
