Fight at Allan Yorke Park leaves one bloodied | BONNEY LAKE POLICE BLOTTER

RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT?: Police on July 17 were dispatched to the Taco Bell on state Route 410 for a call regarding a recklessly driven car. According to the reporting party, he was walking his dog the day before and as he attempted to cross the street a car traveling well over the speed limit approached and as the reporting party attempted to get off the road, the vehicle accelerated toward him and “attempted to run me over.” The following day, the reporting party observed the same car, with distinct colorings, in a parking lot and was writing down the plate number when the driver of the car yelled an expletive at him. The police pulled over the vehicle in question, which matched the description from the reporting party’s police report the night before. The driver of the vehicle denied that he swerved at the reporting party and said his car could not be going as fast as indicated because it does not have a third gear, though he admitted to driving above the speed limit. he also pointed to a “donut” tire on his car and said he would not drive the speed indicated on that tire. He also said the reporting party “stepped into the road.” The officer decided to take statements from both individuals and forwarded the case to the city prosecutor for possible reckless endangerment charges. The reporting party and his wife filed statements, the drier of the suspect vehicle did not return a witness statement.

DISORDERLY: Police on July 24 were working a park patrol at Allan Yorke Park and numerous subjects in the swim area of the park waved the officer over for a fight in progress. Witnesses pointed to an Asian male walking away from the area and as the officer ran after the suspect he passed a black male with a ripped shirt and blood coming from his nose. As the officer caught up with the suspect, he noted the male had blood on his chest and hands. One of the witnesses identified himself as a Homeland Security Law Enforcement Officer and said the Asian male walked up to the black male and apparently unprovoked punched him in the face. The black male declined aid and advised he did not wish to cooperate with the police. The Asian male was found to have a $5,000 warrant in Kitsap County for displaying a weapon. Police transported the Asian male to Buckley Jail because of friends of both subjects causing a scene. The individual declined to discuss the incident, but was polite and cooperative. He was issued a citation for disorderly conduct and permanently trespassed from the park.

STOLEN BOAT: Police on July 18 were dispatched to the 7100 block of Vandermark Road East for a theft of a paddle boat. Sometime during the day, the resident’s paddle boat, which was tied to her dock on Lake Tapps, was stolen. The paddle boat is estimated to be worth between $300 and $400. Police are investigating.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: Officers on July 28 were dispatched to the 6000 block of 195th Avenue East for a report of a residential burglary. Police located  pry marks on the door and door jam at the back of the residence. The deadbolt had also been broken and the screws were pulled out. According to the residents, approximately $2,500 in jewelry and two laptop computers were taken. Police are investigating.

DUI: Police just after midnight on July 30 were dispatched to the site of a collision in the parking lot of the New Peking Bar on state Route 410. The driver of one of the vehicles was reported to be under the influence of alcohol. Police determined the suspect vehicle backed out of a spot and hit an unoccupied cars. Witnesses stopped the suspect from leaving the lot and told police he was slurring his speech and nearly falling down before leaving the bar. Upon contact with the suspect driver, police noted the smell of alcohol and the suspect had difficulty standing without swaying. He admitted to having a “pretty significant amount to drink.” The suspect declined field sobriety tests and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. He staggered and stumbled as he walked to the car and was transported to Puyallup Jail where he blew a blood alcohol reading of 0.203 and 0.210. He was booked into Puyallup Jail for driving under the influence.

ASSAULT WITH A BAT: Police early on July 30 were dispatched to the area of 96th Street East and 203rd Avenue East for a report of an assault in which the reporting party claimed he had been hit with a bat. The reporting party appeared intoxicated an was slurring his speech and unsteady on his feet. He did not have any signs of injury. The victim said a known person hit him in the arm and with a bat in an attempt to start a fight. The victim did not elaborate on the reasons for the fight. Police are investigating.

VANDALISM: Police on Aug. 1 responded to a report of a vehicle prowl in the parking lot of Chipper’s Jewelry on state Route 410. An unknown suspect broke a window in a vehicle parked in the lot and stole a GPS device and a digital camera. Police found a large rock on the floor of the car. Police are investigating.

FRAUD: Police on Aug. 1 took a report from a man who was notified by his bank of more than $440 in suspicious charges on his account. The man gave police the name of a possible suspect given to him by his bank. Police are investigating.
