Firefighter injured fighting house fire | East Pierce

An East Pierce Fire and Rescue firefighter was transported to the hospital after suffering non-life threatening injuries while fighting a house fire Tuesday.

An East Pierce Fire and Rescue firefighter was transported to the hospital after suffering non-life threatening injuries while fighting a house fire Tuesday. Neighbors called 911 just before 1 p.m. to report smoke and flames coming from the house on the 12300 block of 241st Avenue Court East, between Bonney Lake and Buckley. The single-story home was fully-involved when the firefighters arrived.

A total of 22 firefighters, five fire engines, two medic units, a battalion chief and assistant chief responded. According to East Pierce Assistant Chief Russ McCallion, the home suffered significant damage. A pickup truck was also destroyed in the blaze.

The Pierce County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
