Oakpointe Communities announced Jan. 7 the commencement of construction at The Villages, a new residential and mixed-use community on 1,200 acres located south and west of historic Black Diamond and Morganville.
Road and infrastructure work will take place immediately on approximately 320 lots located south of Roberts Drive. The primary contractor is Goodfellow Bros. Inc. of Maple Valley.
“We look forward to creating a community that offers new homes in walkable distance to schools, retail and work, while also promoting environmental values and open space,” said Brian Ross, Oakpointe CEO. “It’s been many years in the making, but with the region clamoring for new housing options, we believe our timing is good.”
Initial homes will include a wide range of lots and sizes with architectural themes consistent with the region. The Villages includes about 500 acres of open space, school sites, and transportation improvements including intersection enhancements, new roads and additional travel lanes.
New residents are expected in about two years.
Oakpointe has established a community message line for residents with concerns about noise: (425) 898-2107. Oakpointe will keep a record of all calls and report activity on the hotline to the City of Black Diamond.
