The Tacoma-Pierce County League of Women Voters, the Associated Students of Pierce College Puyallup and the Washington Coalition for Open Government will present a special program on Washington’s Public Records laws focusing on government officials’ use of personal communications devices to conduct agency business from 6:30 to 8:30 PM on Wednesday, November 12 at the College Center Building, Room 102 at Pierce College, 1601 39th Ave SE in Puyallup.
A panel of expert presenters will fuel the discussion on securing and preserving the public’s legal right to access the records of the government agencies created to serve the people of the state. The panelists include: Toby Nixon, Kirkland City Council member and president of the coalition, Walter Neary, former Lakewood City Council member; Jim Doherty of the Municipal Research Services Center, and Kevin Yamamoto, Puyallup City Attorney. The program will be introduced by former State Auditor Brian Sonntag and Lyz Kurnitz-Thurlow of the Tacoma-Pierce County League will moderate the discussion.
The forum is free and open to all, and questions and comments from the audience are welcome. This forum has received generous financial support from The News Tribune.
