The Friends of Black Diamond Library are hosting a quilt raffle featuring the work of Enumclaw quilter and author Karin Renaud.

Tickets for Renaud’s handmade star quilt titled “The Raspberry Thief” are available for $1.

Renaud has authored two books on the subject of quilt-making. “The Raspberry Thief” is featured in her forthcoming book, “Quilts from the Heart II,” Martingale, 2009.

Renaud, a 1981 Enumclaw High School graduate and daughter of Diane and Cory Olson, teachers who wrote “Black Diamond: Mining the Memories,” was featured in The Courier-Herald in 2006 when she released her first book, “Quilts from the Heart: Quick Projects for Generous Giving.” She is also a 4-H leader and has produced numerous quilts for Project Linus, a nonprofit organization that provides blankets as comfort to seriously ill or traumatized children.

“The Rasberry Thief” quilt is currently on display at the Black Diamond Library, 24707 Roberts Dr., and those who go to see it will find if they look closely, they will notice tiny prints of raspberries, strawberries and blueberries hidden in the starbursts of rich red and blue calico fabrics.

The raffle is sponsored by the Friends of the Black Diamond Library to support programs at the library.

The drawing is scheduled for March 20 to coincide with the first day of spring.
