Enumclaw artist Linda Petchnick is the featured artist for the city of Enumclaw’s Gallery 2010.
Known locally as a distinguished Enumclaw Walk of Fame artist who paints highly detailed floral work in acrylics, she will exhibit paintings of favorite European places she has visited. She has received local, national and international awards for her paintings.
The exhibit runs through June 1 with a public artist reception from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 7.
During the past 20 years, Petchnick has traveled throughout Europe with a camera and the intent of one day painting her favorite scenes. Five of the paintings are Venetian scenes, one Parisian, and one is a market scene from a small village near Frankfurt, Germany.
“I chose these images to paint because of their compositions, color, and depictions of foreign places,” Petchnick said. “There are three watercolors and four acrylic paintings in the exhibit.”
Gallery 2010 features a different artist or group of artists throughout the year. The remaining schedule is: Mary Janosik, June; Sallie Zydek, July; Mike Dilbeck, August; Lisa Parsons, September; guest artists, October; Bob Charlo/Kalispel Nation, November; and Payette Still, December.
An exhibit of personal greeting cards is also currently on display at City Hall featuring the work of Lauri Hillberg and Sarah Buonocore. Cards are for sale and can be ordered by phone.
Gallery 2010 is in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 1339 Griffin Ave. Hours for the exhibition space are 8 a. m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Enumclaw City Hall is closed on national holidays. The gallery is closed to the public on Tuesday of each week for municipal court proceedings. For information, call Enumclaw Cultural Programs office at 360-802-0239.
