Grants made a big difference for elementary kids

I am writing to express my thanks to the Enumclaw Schools Foundation and the Sunrise Elementary PTA. Due to grants received from these two organizations students at Sunrise Elementary will have the opportunity to use an online program called BookFlix. This subscription-based program can be accessed at home or at school and is an interactive literacy tool. Its purpose is to reinforce students’ reading skills by reading a selection of high interest fiction and nonfiction books on the same topic. Vocabulary and comprehension activities are imbedded in each book selection. Additional multi media activities are also available to motivate students and practice essential reading skills. We are looking forward to using this resource starting in January.

I don’t live in Enumclaw but have worked in the school district several years. I am impressed with the level of involvement and community support for education. Our students all benefit. The Enumclaw Schools Foundation has set up a link on their website for community members to place orders with Amazon.com.

The foundation will receive a portion of all sales made via this link. These funds will go directly to support student learning and programs. I have found this to be one way to express my appreciation to the community for their support of education and encourage others to do the same. www.enumclawschoolsfoundation.org.
