Green River Bridge on SR 169 remains closed

Materials to repair the bridge were unavailable over the weekend.

Northbound SR 169 commuters had a bit of bad luck Monday when they came to the Green River Bridge — and found it still closed.

The bridge, which connects Enumclaw and Black Diamond and was originally slated to open up April 17 at 5 a.m., is now expected to open the morning of Friday, April 21.

The extended closure is due to workers, who are repairing the bridge’s expansion joints, needing additional materials to compete the project.

“The needed pieces were unavailable during the weekend. Once crews have these materials in place, they will pour concrete to finish the expansion joint repair,” a press release reads.

The Washington State Department of Transportation added that additional updates are expected throughout the week; you can also get more information via the WSDOT mobile app, the real-time travel map, or by following the WSDOT Traffic Twitter account.
