The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for hot weather for parts of the Puget Sound area. Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 80s to mid 90s this Thursday through Saturday.

Pierce County Department of Emergency Management reminds everyone to stay out of the heat as much as they can, stay hydrated, and to check on elderly neighbors during this time.

Also, do not leave children or pets in cars unattended at all—temperatures can quickly become deadly. Citizens are encouraged to take advantage of cooler air in public buildings such as Pierce County libraries, local malls, movie theaters, and other large stores.

For more information on those most at risk and how to avoid heat-related illnesses visit the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department, or the National Weather Service websites.”
