King County residents not currently registered to vote in Washington can register in person until 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 29 to vote in this year’s general election. Register in person at the King County Electionsoffice, 919 SW Grady Way in Renton or the Voter Registration Annex at the King County Administration Building, 500 4th Avenue, Room 311 in downtown Seattle.
To accommodate the high demand for voter registration before the November 6 general election, King County Elections in Renton will be open Saturday, October 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Annex is open weekdays only.
To register to vote in the state of Washington, people must be:
- A citizen of the United States
- A legal resident of Washington state
- At least 18 years old by election day
- Not under the authority of the Department of Corrections
- Not disqualified from voting due to a court order
In the state of Washington, citizens do not have to register by political party or declare political party membership to vote in the state’s regular primaries or general elections.
If people are registered to vote but missed the Oct. 8 deadline to update their address, they can still vote. They should call the King County Elections office to obtain a ballot and update their information for future elections. Ballots were mailed Oct. 17.
