He graduated from Enumclaw High School in 1997 and Southern Illinois University in 2005. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force after high school graduation and upon receiving a bachelor of science in business administration and workforce planning from Southern Illinois University, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army. He was assigned to the 2nd Heavy Equipment Transportation unit at Ft. Irwin, Calif., in 2006-07. He served 15 months in Kuwait and Iraq in 2007-08 with the 2nd HET unit and returned to Ft. Irwin where he served as the executive officer the 2nd HET unit.

He is currently assigned to the 916th Support Brigade Operations Section (S-3) at Ft. Irwin.

The captain is scheduled to report to the Combined Logistics Captains Career Course at Fort Lee, Va., in September. This school will prepare him for battalion, brigade and division level logistics planning and coordinating.

He and his wife Sandra have a 2-year-old son Sven and are expecting a second child. His parents, Ed and Barb Kelley, reside in Fall City, Wash.
