The Metropolitan King County Council’s Committee of the Whole will receive a briefing on the decision by Harborview Medical Center to accept Ebola patients and the preparations for treatment if the hospital does receive a patient infected with Ebola.

The Metropolitan King County Council’s Committee of the Whole will receive a briefing on the decision by Harborview Medical Center to accept Ebola patients and the preparations for treatment if the hospital does receive a patient infected with Ebola.

The briefing will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, October 27 in the King County Council Chambers.

The meeting will be carried live on King County TV, seen on Comcast and Wave Cable Channel 22. Earlier this month, as the U.S. started treating the first patients identified in this country as having the Ebola virus, Harborview volunteered to take infected patients.

The council committee has invited representatives of Harborview Medical Center and King County Public Health-Seattle & King County to brief members about the decision to accept Ebola patients and how Harborview is prepared to address the associated risks including training and procedures.

The committee is scheduled to hear from:

· Johnese Spisso, Chief Health System Officer, UW Medicine and Vice President for medical affairs, University of Washington,

· Dr. Timothy Dellit, Harborview Medical Center’s associate medical director and chief of infectious disease,

· Dr. Jeff Duchin, communicable-disease chief for Public Health — Seattle & King County.
