King County Council Monday Feb. 2 highlights

Unanimously approved an ordinance creating the King County Metro Transit carbon offset program; requiring the wastewater treatment division and solid waste division to be carbon neutral by 2025, by investing in energy efficiency, renewable energy, the production of renewable energy, carbon offsets and other practices to reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases from operations (Ordinance 2014-0479).

At today’s council meeting, council members:

–Proclaimed February 6, 2015 National Wear Red Day in King County.

–Proclaimed February 7, 2015 Native America Expulsion Remembrance Day in King County

  • Unanimously approved an ordinance creating the King County Metro Transit carbon offset program; requiring the wastewater treatment division and solid waste division to be carbon neutral by 2025, by investing in energy efficiency, renewable energy, the production of renewable energy, carbon offsets and other practices to reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases from operations (Ordinance 2014-0479).
  • Unanimously adopted an ordinance approving and adopting the collective bargaining agreement between the County and the King County Prosecuting Attorneys Association (Prosecuting Attorney’s Office) representing employees in the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office (Ordinance 2014-0487).
  • Unanimously approved motions confirming the appointments of:

o   Carlos Becker to the King County Civil Rights Commission (Motion 2014-0220).

o   Steve De Los Angeles to the King County Emergency management Advisory Committee (Motion 2014-0337).

o   Robert Mendel to the King County Emergency management Advisory Committee (Motion 2014-0355).

o   Katherine Lemay to the King County Landmarks Commission (Motion 2014-0467).
