King County hosts disaster skills webinar

The event is on Nov. 8 from 12 to 1 p.m.

King County Emergency Management is hosting a free Disaster Skills Training Webinar on Nov. 8.

Disaster Skills Training teaches basic emergency preparedness for individuals and families and focuses on hazards specific to the area. Register: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/disaster-skills-training-webinar-king-county-wa-tickets-483546549747

This course, scheduled from noon to 1 p.m., is designed for the general public to support individuals and families working toward emergency preparedness.

The course is specifically designed for communities in King County. Folks from other areas are welcome to attend, but please note that the content will be focused locally on the King County region.

Topics include:

1. Understanding local hazards and what to expect in an earthquake scenario.

2. Developing a household emergency plan, including communications, evacuation, and reunification.

3. Building emergency preparedness kits for short and long-term situations.

4. Connecting to local information sources to stay informed before, during, and after emergencies.

5. Inspiring others to start the emergency preparedness process. Volunteering with the Trusted Partner Network.
