SR 410 reopens east of Greenwater after landslide

Stay vigilant if driving in the area.

State Route 410 east of Greenwater reopened Sunday evening after downed trees and a landslide on Friday made the road inaccessible over the weekend.

The closure was between Greenwater and Crystal Mountain Boulevard at about milepost 49. The road had opened as of Sunday at 6 p.m., WSDOT confirmed, but crews were still on-scene clearing the side and repairing the shoulders and ditches.

If you plan to travel through the area, be vigilant, WSDOT advised. Also remember that Chinook and Cayuse Passes have already closed for the season.

More than three feet of muddy, rocky crud had slid onto the road, according to WSDOT. Transportation crews and engineers worked over the weekend to clear debris, inspect the stability of the hillside and redirect Dry Creek through a culvert.

The region has experienced several days of heavy rain, increasing the risk of slides. If you drive, do so carefully and slowly, and do not attempt to drive through roads closed by standing water. Watch out for natural hazards like slides and report them if you see them.
