Thanks to customer feedback, Chromebook laptops at South Hill and Sumner Pierce County libraries now have the ability to print. The Chromebooks also come with mice and access to free cloud applications such as Google Docs and Office Online.
South Hill began offering Chromebooks for checkout in December, 2014, as part of a pilot program. And, Sumner debuted the service earlier this month. Chromebooks may be checked out all day as long as they’re used at the library. The laptop experience is quite different from the library’s traditional desktop computers that come with two and three-hour limits. If the Chromebook pilot is successful, it may be rolled out at other Pierce County Library locations.
Other new features also include mice and cloud apps.
