On Saturday around 9:30 a.m., King County Sheriffs responded to a bicycle accident in the area of SE Green Valley Pkwy and 218th Ave SE.

A 29 year old Albany, Oregon man was riding his bicycle as part of a group participating in an organized race. The man was riding southbound, downhill on 218th Ave SE about .5 miles north of the Green Valley Rd.

It was reported he lost control of the bicycle and collided with guardrail and received critical injuries.

He was taken to Harborview where he later died.

King County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident and Reconstruction Unit responded and are investigating the accident.
