Mayor Molinaro will serve as 2023 Sound Cities president

The Sound Cities Association represents 38 cities are more than 1 million people in King County.

The following is a press release from the Sound Cities Association, shared to the Courier-Herald by the City of Enumclaw.

Enumclaw Mayor Jan Molinaro has been elected President of the Sound Cities Association (SCA), which represents 38 King County cities and provides a regional voice for more than one million people.

Mayor Angela Birney of Redmond serves as Immediate Past President of SCA and applauded Molinaro’s election as President, stating, “Mayor Molinaro brings his can-do spirit and the much-needed perspective of our smaller cities to as we work together to continue the mission of representing all of the Sound Cities.”

Mayor Molinaro is excited to take on this important role in the region, stating, “I’m excited to continue the important work of SCA along with so many talented and thoughtful city leaders.”

Mayor Molinaro began serving his second term as Mayor of Enumclaw in January 2022, having first been elected and serving as mayor in 2018. Prior to serving as Mayor, Jan served on the Enumclaw City Council and previous served on the City’s Civil Service Commission. With over 40 years of experience in Operations Management, Jan and his family have lived in Enumclaw for 30 years, and his children graduated from the Enumclaw School District.

Jan’s involvement with Sound Cities Association started as the city’s representative on Public Issues Committee in 2017. Elected and began serving on the SCA Board in 2020. Then was elected in 2022 as Vice President to SCA.

In addition to serving as President of SCA, Mayor Molinaro will represent SCA and Enumclaw on the Executive Board of the Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC) in 2023.

The Sound Cities Association helps King County cities act locally and partner regionally to create vital and thriving communities through advocacy, education, leadership, mutual support, and networking.
