At today’s Council meeting, Councilmembers:

• Unanimously approved an ordinance sending to the November ballot an amendment to the King County Charter that would make permanent the Department of Public Defense and an appointed office with the title of “County Public Defender” (Substitute Ordinance 2013-0212.2).

Introduction of ordinances and motions for Committee action:

  • An ordinance related to taxis, for-hire vehicles and drivers (Ordinance 2013-0019). The ordinance was sent to the Government Accountability and Oversight Department for consideration.
