The following is an edited press release from Mount Rainier National Park:
The White River Road to the White River Campground area closed on Monday, October 14, 2024.
The early closure was necessary due to park employees to the Hurricane Helene recovery effort and moved up the scheduled Oct. 20 closure.
State Routes 123 and 410, which provide access to eastern sections of the park, are estimated to remain open until mid-November.
During snow plowing operations or when otherwise posted, park roads are closed to all other uses, included bicycling, hiking, skiing, and snowmobiling. Visitors should check road closure signs on closed road gates before proceeding.
Information on seasonal road closures within Mount Rainier National Park can be found on the park’s roads status page. Information about State Route 410 (Chinook Pass) and State Route 123 (Cayuse Pass) is located on the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) mountain passes website.
Information about visiting the park can be found at the Mount Rainier National Park website.
