In addition to featuring local artists and their work, this year’s seventh annual Art in the Garden will highlight the 2011 Plateau- inspired calendar and a concert series.

The free Art in the Garden event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Enumclaw’s Country Garden Bouquets, 46620 228th Ave., and will feature 37 art vendors.

A portion of sales benefits Arts Alive!, a nonprofit organization that supports Plateau area arts and artists.

Patrons will be able to find blown glass, whimsical garden art and garden bells, sculptures, jewelry, baskets, paintings, rock art, photography, metalwork, pottery and more.

Arts Alive! members have been working on its fundraising calendar for several months and will be selling them at Art in the Garden for $12. The calendars, which feature a local artists’ work for each month, will also be available at the Arts Alive! Gallery, 1429 Cole St.

The calendar will feature the work of Bonney Lake’s Richard Smith, Carbonado’s Sarah Buonocore, and Enumclaw’s Helma Raycher, Tim Johnson, Denny Pirello, Nancy Cary, Anna Maria Forza, Charles Hubbard, Diane Franchini, Susan Payne, David Baker and Ken Strange.

The weekend’s entertainment will be supplied by the Broadwings Foundation. Attendees will hear a variety of music from classical to jazz, instrumentalists and vocalists will perform solo and in ensembles throughout both days.

Sony BMG Masterworks artist, Steinway artist, composer, Broadwings artistic director and founder Andrew T. Miller, is the man bringing the performers together. Miller will be performing both days and is excited about partnering with Arts Alive! to bring music to an already successful visual arts event.

Headlining the list of guest musicians is guitarist James Howard Saturday. Singer, songwriter and musician, Howard mixes the emotional simplicity of blues with the sophistication of jazz and the raw power of rock.

Also appearing throughout the event: Contemporary Christian band Crosswind, jazz ensemble Studio Jazz, vocalist Roy Wilson, jazz saxophonist Carl von Sicard, vocalist and jazz trumpeter Spencer Larson, pianist Kara Cooper, vocalist Holly Chase, classical musicians Plateau String Ensemble and others.

Arts Alive! will also have tickets available for its fall quilt raffle. As in year’s past, this year’s quilt was created by Crystal Quilters and is on display at the gallery. The drawing will take place at the Arts Alive! auction.
