Drivers need to be prepared for nightly closures on Interstate 90 over Snoqualmie Pass next week for rock blasting starting at 7 p.m. One hour closures are planned for Monday, Aug. 19 and Tuesday, Aug. 20. Longer closures of two or more hours are planned for Wednesday, Aug. 21 and Thursday, Aug. 22.

The Washington State Department of Transportation and contractor crews plan to close I-90 in both directions eastbound at Gold Creek (milepost 56) and westbound at Price Creek (milepost 61) and Easton (for the extended closures). A reopening time depends on the amount of debris that comes down and repairs needed to the highway. Drivers are encouraged to use exits before the closure points to access services. During the closures, there are no services eastbound past milepost 53 and westbound past milepost 70.

On Sunday, Aug. 18, crews will temporarily close I-90 in both directions near the snowshed sometime between 5 to 8 a.m. Crews are transporting bridge girders for the SR 522 Snohomish River to US 2 widening project. Closure times and closure durations are subject to change.

Drivers will also experience delays due to multiple construction zones from North Bend to Ellensburg Monday through Friday.
