Nightly rock blasting cause delays next week east of Snoqualmie Pass

Drivers traveling on Interstate 90 east of Snoqualmie Pass should plan for added travel time next week due to nightly rock blasting and lane closures.

The Washington State Department of Transportation and contractor crews will close I-90 at 7:30 p.m. for about an hour each night Monday, Aug. 17 through Thursday, Aug. 20. During rock blasting closures eastbound drivers will be stopped at milepost 56 near Gold Creek and westbound drivers will be stopped at milepost 61 near Price Creek. Drivers will encounter daytime rolling slowdowns and nighttime lane closures through the same location during the week.

Drivers should also plan for added travel time due to construction-related lane closures and delays between mileposts 59, just east of Snoqualmie Pass to milepost 87, near the Cle Elum vicinity.

A single lane eastbound closure remains in effect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week across the Vantage Bridge as crews work to repaint the bridge.
