ASSAULT ON OFFICER: Officers were dealing with a separate incident on Aug. 27 when they heard a car coming towards them at a high rate of speed. The car passed the officers, causing one car coming in the opposite direction to swerve to avoid collision. Officers noted the license plate, advised dispatched and pursued. Officers quickly found the car in a driveway but not the driver. Officers talked to the owners of the house the car was parked at, who told officers they never saw the driver. Officers searched the area and found an open garage door, which the homeowners said should be closed. Officers entered the garage and found the subject, nude, making random comments. Officers recognized the subject and knew them to have mental health issues. Officers attempted to keep the subject calm but soon the subject ran toward officers with a bicycle in their hands. Officers attempted to deploy their taser but it did not fire. The subject attempted to throw the bike at officers but missed. Backup arrived and the subject attempted to run towards the other officer with a metal carpenters level but was tasered by another officer. Medics arrived and the subject was eventually booked into the Pierce County Jail.
