Elections Division was notified by Initiative 1329 sponsors late this afternoon that they will not submit signatures to our office.

Today is the deadline to submit signatures for initiatives to the people. I-1329 sponsors said they only have about 170,000 signatures, far fewer than the minimum number of 246,372 valid signatures in order to qualify for the 2014 General Election ballot this fall. I-1329 dealt with the influence of corporations and money in the political system.

Sponsors of I-1351 (lowering class sizes) turned in nearly 330,000 signatures Thursday morning. They brought in an additional 944 petition sheets Friday.
