Buckley Relay fundraisers rolling

The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life is celebrating its 25th anniversary, so Buckley organizers are recruiting people to be a part of the special overnight event which this year focuses on colon cancer. The relay begins with the survivors’ Lap of Hope at 6 p.m. May 15 along River Road and state Route 410, and finishes 18 hours later at noon.

Feather search turns up familiar friends

On April 3, I decided to walk around Enumclaw on my lunch break to look for a large feather to use as a prop in Stage Door Production’s “Man of La Mancha.” Ballpoint pens had not yet been invented during the period of the Spanish Inquisition. I searched under the trees between Mutual of Enumclaw and the Qwest building on Wells Street. There seem to be crows in these trees laughing at me whenever I walk around the corner to get into my car at the end of my work day.

Basketball was the name and having fun was the game April 15 at Dieringer Heights Elementary when fifth-grade students showed up in force to take control of the court against their teachers. It was the fourth consecutive year for the event.
