Following the drowning death of 16-year-old Quentin Boggan two weeks ago, Mayor Neil Johnson is planning to propose a series of possible changes at Allan Yorke Park in an attempt to prevent another tragedy at Lake Tapps.
RECOVERED AUTO: Police recovered a stolen automobile July 5 and had it impounded. A phone message was left with the registered owner and the Stanwood (Wash.) Police Department was notified.

The mission to recover Climbing Ranger Nick Hall from the Winthrop Glacier on Mount Rainier this morning was successful. Ranger Hall died on June 21, 2012, while responding to a rescue of four injured climbers on Mount Rainier.
FIREWORKS CALLS: Police responded to 20 fireworks complaints between 4 p.m. and midnight on the Fourth of July. In some cases, the fireworks were legal; in other instances, police confiscated illegal fireworks (bottle rockets). In one case, a parent was notified after a sparkler bomb was confiscated.
According to East Pierce Battalion Chief Jay Adams, firefighters responded to 23 emergency calls on July 4, a typical call volume for an average day.

State Fire Marshal Charles M. Duffy announced today that in 2011, during July 4th celebrations, there were 3 fireworks-related school fires. From 2007 through 2011 there were 35 fireworks-related school fires that totaled more than $12 million in losses.
