Parks and Recreation offers Northwest Magic basketball “boot camp” | Pierce County

Thursday, Aug. 13, is the last day to register for Northwest Magic Boot Camp, a program presented by the Pierce County Parks and Recreation Department. The rigorous basketball skills camp concentrates on discipline, attitude, fundamentals, and development. The camper must be prepared to work as hard as they possibly can as soon as he or she arrives. Boot Camp is three hours of intense training.

The rigorous basketball skills camp concentrates on discipline, attitude, fundamentals, and development. The camper must be prepared to work as hard as they possibly can as soon as he or she arrives. Boot Camp is three hours of intense training.

“This is such an exciting opportunity to be partnering with Northwest Magic,” said Meredith Smith, Recreation Supervisor with Pierce County Parks and Recreation. “Vanessa McClendon, the organization’s founder, is a strong role model to these kids and we are fortunate that she wants to build partnership opportunities with this amazing program for the kids in Pierce County.”

Northwest Magic Basketball Club is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization. A premier youth girls’ basketball program, Northwest Magic is focused on teaching athletes fundamental and advanced basketball skills. Magic is the program for players who possess a passion for the game and a strong desire to develop and improve their skills.

Magic is also more than just on-the-court development. The organization strives to make the players better citizens by instilling confidence, leadership and a strong work ethic in its participants. It is fast becoming one of the largest and most recognizable basketball organizations in the Northwest.
