Passport and licensing fair scheduled

The Pierce County Auditor’s Office will host a Passport and Licensing Fair Saturday, Sept. 19 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. to accept passport applications, and provide marriage, pet and vehicle/vessel licensing services. The Auditor’s Office is located at the Pierce County Annex, 2401 S. 35th St, Room 200 in Tacoma.

“The people I chatted with at our last Passport Licensing Fair were overwhelmingly enthusiastic that the Auditor’s Office was open on a Saturday. Some said that they had two jobs, busy lives, and getting this service on a weekend was important,” said Pierce County Auditor Jan Shabro.

Passports, marriage licenses, pet licenses may be applied for at the fair.

A passport book and card may be applied for at once for a fee of $25. Passport fees must be paid with a check, cashier’s check or money order. Cash is not accepted. Passport photos may be taken for $12 which may be paid for with cash. Identification in the form of a driver’s license or military ID and proof of citizenship is required. A state ID cards is accepted if the applicant has four other supporting forms of identification.

Original birth certificates and Social Security numbers are required.

Marriage licenses may be applied for with an application fee of $64 payable in cash, cashier’s check, or money order, but not with a check. Both parties need to be present with valid identification and must be 18 years of age or older. There is a three-day waiting period and marriage licenses are valid for 60 days.

Pet licenses may be purchased and renewed for residents of unincorporated Pierce County, South Prairie and Wilkeson only. Reduced rates are available with proof an animal was spayed or neutered.

Vehicle tab renewals, title transfers, permits and all other vehicle/vessel related services may be processed at the fair.
