Enumclaw

ASSAULT

• Police responded at 12:25 a.m. June 3 to a Roosevelt Avenue location following an assault. Two victims were able to provide information about two suspects, both local males. The victims were taken to Enumclaw Regional Hospital for evaluation.

DISTURBANCE

• Police responded to a Cole Street parking lot at 8:40 p.m. June 3 after hearing of a vehicle parked with garbage tossed around it. The owner of the vehicle admitted to making the mess and agreed to pick up the trash. She told an officer she had been asked to leave the senior center and became upset.

MINOR CHARGES

• A June 3 traffic stop for reckless driving turned into more when an officer detected a strong odor of marijuana. The driver was taken into custody for being a minor in possession of alcohol and possession of marijuana. The vehicle was released to a licensed driver.

FIGHT THWARTED

• Police were told at 9:30 p.m. June 3 of a fight about to occur between multiple juveniles at Dwight Garrett Park. An officer responded, the subjects all dispersed and no fight took place.

FIGHT OCCURRED

• Following a 911 “haangup” call from a Railroad Street business, police made a return call at 9:46 p.m. June 3 and learned the combatants in a bar fight had been separated. A victim declined aid and also declined to assist in prosecution.

DRUG OFFENSE

• Police responded at 10:30 p.m. June 3 to the vicinity of Warner Avenue and Charwila Lane where there reportedly was a large gathering of juveniles. They dispersed, but officers arrested one subject for harassment, being a minor in possession of alcohol and possession of marijuana.

TAMPERING

• Police were told that someone had been approached and offered money in exchange for changing a statement to police. A suspect was located and arrested for tampering with a witness.

POSSIBLE PROWLER

• A Gossard Place resident called police at approximately 12:30 a.m. June 2, reporting that a prowler was kneeling down next to a neighbor’s Honda Civic and the car’s alarm system had been activated. An officer found no apparent damage to the car and unsuccessfully attempted to contact the owner. The resident called police a few minutes later, wondering why an officer had come to her door. She hadn’t answered because she didn’t realize, until it was too late, that it was a police officer.

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

• An officer contacted a person June 2 about a pit bull. She person was visiting Enumclaw and was advised of the prohibition against keeping the breed in the city limits. The dog owner said she would be gone that night and the dog would not be brought back to town.

HIT AND RUN

• Police were told at 6:30 p.m. June 1 of a hit-and-run incident that had just occurred on Harding Street. A suspect was found, arrested for hit-and-run and reckless driving, cited and released.

UNWANTED

• A Harding Street resident called police shortly after midnight June 1 due to his girlfriend’s mother making a scene in front of his residence. An officer responded and provided transporation for the girlfriend to her home.

AUTO THEFT

• An officer responded the afternoon of June 1 to a Warner Avenue address following a reported automobile theft. A report was taken, but the vehicle was located before the report entered the state system. A suspect was identified, arrested and booked.

NO CAMPING

• A recreational vehicle was found camping June 1 in a grassy field at the Enumclaw Expo Center. An officer made contact and informed the campers they had to park in the paid lot if they were on the center grounds. They packed up and departed.

SUICIDE ATTEMPT

• At 5 a.m. Sunday, officers were dispatched to a Naches Street residence regarding a possible suicide attempt. When police arrived they found a female with blood on her wrists. It was observed that the woman had lacerated her wrists with an unknown object, but the cuts did not appear to be deep enough to be life-threatening. The woman said she had also swallowed 15 to 20 pills, but did not specify the variety or strength of those pills. Not wishing to take any chances, officers transported the woman to the hospital for a medical evaluation.

DRUNK AND SPEEDING

• Shortly after midnight Sunday, an individual was pulled over at the intersection of Ryan Road and Division Street for speeding. When the officer made contact with the driver, it appeared the man had been drinking. After performing field sobriety tests the driver was transported to the Buckley jail, where a blood-alcohol test confirmed that the driver was legally intoxicated. The driver was issued a criminal citation for driving under the influence and a ticket for speeding.
