Enumclaw

ONE ARRESTED

• Police responded at 12:37 a.m. Feb. 18 to the vicinity of state Route 169 and Southeast 400th Street after hearing of two men fighting outside a car parked along the highway. One was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated.

SKATERS OUSTED

• A school custodian contacted police at 1:41 a.m Feb. 17, asking that youngsters skateboarding in the courtyard be asked to leave. The situation was handled.

PROWL INTERRUPTED

• A Semanski Street resident called police at 2:34 a.m. Feb. 17 after interrupting three men who were attempting to enter her vehicle. No damage was done and entry was not gained. The suspects were last seen heading south on Semanski. A family member of the victim later reported seeing a possible suspect vehicle at a Buckley business; the clothing of the occupants matched that of the suspects. The suspects headed west and Bonney Lake police were notified.

SHOPLIFT

• Police were told the morning of Feb. 17 of a shoplifting incident the night before at a Griffin Avenue business. Suspects who took a case of beer valued at $14.99 were seen on a surveillance camera.

TOOLS TAKEN

• A Chinook Avenue resident reported the morning of Feb. 17 that tools had been stolen from his vehicle the night before.

HARASSMENT

• A woman notified police Feb. 17 of an altercation with a former boyfriend. The man reportedly made threats and hit her vehicle. He was arrested for harassment/domestic violence.

FIGHT

• Police received word of a fight in progress at 6:07 p.m. Feb. 17 at a Griffin Avenue address. Officers contacted all involved and arrested one person for assault.

INFORMATION ONLY

• Black Diamond police alerted Enumclaw authorities at 3 a.m. Feb 16 to a potentially suicidal man who had left his Black Diamond home. It was noted he could have one or two guns in his possession. There was no indication he was headed to Enumclaw, but local jurisdictions were being notified.

SUSPICIOUS

• An officer responded to a Kibler Avenue location the morning of Feb. 16 to meet with a citizen who found both a wallet and evidence of suspicious activity at a school playground. There appeared to be evidence of “huffing,” or the intentional inhaling of chemical vapors. An initial attempt to contact the owner of the wallet was unsuccessful.

HARASSMENT

• A citizen complained to police the morning of Feb. 16 that he is being harassed for money daily by another person, despite repeated rejections. An officer determined the two know each other and the situation had been going on for awhile. The caller is an employee at a local business and agreed to notify police the next time she was approached by the suspect.

BANNED FROM STORE

• An employee of a Garrett Street business reported vandalism to the men’s restroom the afternoon of Feb. 16. A witness helped identify a possible suspect, who denied being involved. Still, the person was trespassed from the store.

SAFE IS SAFE

• An officer responded Feb. 15 to a vacant lot in the vicinity of Peterson Drive and Mount Peak Street. The owner of the lot reported a steel safe was found in the lot. Attempts to open the safe were negative and the Washington State Patrol agreed to respond the following day to X-ray the safe and determine if anything was inside. Further investigation revealed the safe belonged to a company doing some work at the vacant lot; it had been there for about a month. The safe owner agreed to remove it.

NOT STOLEN

• While on patrol the evening of Feb. 15, an officer received an alert through the LoJack monitoring system of a stolen vehicle in the area of 284th Avenue Southeast and Battersby Avenue. The vehicle was not found, though alerts kept popping up throughout the area. Eventually, the vehicle was found in the area of Warner Avenue and Watson Street; a suspect was taken to the police station for booking and the vehicle was impounded. Police quickly notified the registered owner of the vehicle, who was in a Yakima County jail. The owner confirmed the local man was authorized to have the vehicle, so he was released.

BAD NIGHT

• At 8:20 p.m. Feb. 15, officers and medical technicians were dispatched to to Shay Road for a possible drug overdose. Crews examined a 43-year-old woman at the residence. They later transported her to the hospital as a precaution.

VEHICLE PROWLING

• At 2 a.m. on Feb. 16, an unknown subject or subjects cut into the fence of a Chamberlain Street business and made attempts to enter several motor homes stored on the premises. The attempts were not successful and no damage was present on the motor homes.

FOUND PROPERTY

• At 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 18, a young man found a small black bag containing two needles and syringes at a Jefferson Avenue apartment complex. There were no forms of identification with the bag. The officer photographed the needles and disposed of the paraphernalia properly.

INFORMATION REPORT

• At 10:25 p.m. Feb. 19, a person reported to police that the father of an ex-employee had been coming into a Main Street restaurant and harassing the owner. The owner requested that police contact the father and son and advise them not to return. The officer talked with both subjects by phone. They stated they would not come back and would handle their problem through civil court.

PHANTOM STABBING

• At 4:27 p.m. Feb. 19, a call came in reporting that a man was being stabbed with a knife by his girlfriend somewhere near state Route 410 and the Hinkleman Extension. Officers responded with priority, but could not locate any such activity. The surrounding area was checked to no avail.

BICYCLE THIEF

• At 3:28 a.m. Feb. 20, officers were dispatched to Ryan Road for a reported bicycle theft. Witnesses directed the officers to a nearby residence where the juvenile male suspects fled. Officers contacted several juveniles and a 37-year-old female homeowner at the residence. Two witnesses identified a 15-year-old boy from Buckley, who was then taken into custody for theft and later released to his mother.
