• A 19-year-old female was arrested for attempting to steal $1,138 worth of merchandise from the Fred Mayer store. Police responded at 4:53 p.m. July 7 and the store’s loss prevention manager had the woman in custody. She admitted she pushed the items in a cart toward her car and had no intention of paying for them. She was booked into the Pierce County Jail for theft in the second degree.

THEFT

• A 19-year-old female was arrested for attempting to steal $1,138 worth of merchandise from the Fred Mayer store. Police responded at 4:53 p.m. July 7 and the store’s loss prevention manager had the woman in custody. She admitted she pushed the items in a cart toward her car and had no intention of paying for them. She was booked into the Pierce County Jail for theft in the second degree.

FRAUD

• A 59-year-old female reported at 12:54 p.m. July 3 she was aware of fraudulent charges to her bank account. She was made aware by her credit union. There are no leads at the time.

FIREARM

• A 23-year-old male admitted to firing a gun July 5. Police responded at 12:07 a.m. to a report of the unlawful discharge at 60th Street East. The man was identified by the reporting party as the subject who fired the gun from the deck of the residence. The man lated directed officers to the gun. He was cited and released at the scene and the gun was seized as evidence.

ACCIDENTAL

• Police responded at 7:16 p.m. July 6 to assist the fire department with a gunshot victim. A 32-year-old female said her 42-year-old boyfriend was cleaning his pistol and accidentally shot himself in the hand. The man was transported to Tacoma General Hospital.

TRESPASSING

• On July 4 an 18-year-old was arrested for trespassing in Allen Yorke Park. The man previously was trespassed from the park on June 8 for harassment of teenage girls. The man was transported to and booked into the Buckley City Jail.

MARIJUANA

• At 3:41 p.m. July 5 an officer saw a man driving northbound on Locust Avenue within the 8500 block. The vehicle had a cracked windshield and when the officer stopped the driver a records check revealed the man was driving with a suspended license. The man was arrested and marijuana was found in his pants pocket. The man was transported to the Buckley jail and booked for driving while license suspended and possession of marijuana.

DOGS GONE WILD

• At approximately 7:45 a.m. June 26 an animal control officer investigated two dogs running at large in the 2800 block of 146th Ave E. During the investigation one dog, unprovoked, bit the officer. The dog bit the officer’s bulletproof vest, which prevented injuries. The dog was declared potentially dangerous.

BURGLARY

• At approximately 2 a.m. June 27 officers investigated a residential burglary in the 15800 block of Elm Street. The suspect entered the residence while the victim was sleeping and stole several items.

UNDERAGE DRINKING

• At 6:55 p.m. June 27 officers investigated a report of underage adults drinking in the 1100 block of Fryer Avenue. Upon contacting the adults, two were arrested for minor in possession/consumption.

ASSAULT

• On June 28 officers investigated an assault that occurred the night before in the 5600 block of Graham Avenue. Officers identified two suspects and the investigation is ongoing.

BURGLAR

• At 8:50 p.m. June 27 officers were dispatched to an interrupted burglary in the 14100 block of 8th St East. A security officer had interrupted the burglary and the suspect fled on foot. Upon arrival the officers located the suspect and arrested him on multiple felony charges.

VANDALISM

• During a three day period June 25 through June 28, 16 vehicles had their windows shattered with an unknown object.

DRINKING

• At 4:38 p.m. June 29 officers contacted a female who was seen driving her vehicle erratically. The woman was arrested for driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level nearly four times the legal limit.
