WARRANT

• At 7:16 p.m. Jan. 27, police responded to a warrant meet with the Puyallup Police Department. At 7:45 p.m. a man with an outstanding warrant for criminal trespass in the second degree was transferred to Bonney Lake police from Puyallup. The man was transported to the Buckley Jail and booked on the warrant.

BURGLARY

• At 3:35 p.m. Jan. 31, police responded to a report of a burglary at 193rd Avenue East. Upon arrival the reporting party stated an unknown subject or subjects entered his locked shed between noon and 4 p.m. and stole two chainsaws. The reporting party showed police a ladder which was placed against the shed and was most likely used to climb in through an opening near the shed’s roof. Items in the reporting party’s garage appeared moved but nothing was missing.

THEFT

• At 2 p.m. Jan. 30, police were contacted by asset protection staff at a Bonney Lake retail store. Three subjects who an asset protection employee recognized from previous thefts were inside the store allegedly stealing video games. The employee told police the suspects’ car was parked nearby. The subjects were part of an ongoing theft investigation and probable cause was developed for their arrests. Backup arrived at the scene and police then observed one of the suspects leave the store and enter the vehicle and close the door. Police watched the suspect drive the car toward an exit where the other suspects were known to leave from in the past with carrying cases containing video games which were not paid for. The vehicle departed from the store at 2:35 p.m. and officers conducted a traffic stop in the 19100 block of state Route 410 East and the three subjects in the vehicle, two 18-year-old females and a 19-year-old male, were the ones who were the subject of the ongoing investigation. The three were taken into custody and placed in separate holding areas at 2:58 p.m. pending interviews. The driver told police she assisted by waiting for a phone call to pick up the other two suspects and had participated in the same way before. She said other thefts occurred at other locations with others. She said they sold the games at stores until the games were flagged because they sold too many. They then began selling them online. The suspect helped identify suspects on surveillance video from other thefts, which police reviewed. The three were placed under arrest for organized retail theft and were transferred to Pierce County jail. The vehicle, which contained carrying cases, was placed into evidence pending a search warrant.

SUMNER

THEFT/MARIJUANA

• Police responded at 10:34 a.m. Jan. 28 to a report of a shoplifter in custody. Management said the suspect, a 16-year-old male, allegedly took an energy drink without paying. Police located a small bag of marijuana and a pipe used for smoking marijuana in his coat pocket. The suspect gave a false name during the interview. He was booked into Remann Hall for theft, possession of marijuana and paraphernalia and obstructing.

FIREARM

• At approximately 12:31 p.m. Jan. 25, an officer was observing traffic in the 700 block of Valley Avenue when a vehicle was seen approaching the officer in excess of the posted speed limit. The officer performed a traffic stop; the driver was contacted and provided his identification and insurance. A routine records check indicated that the driver had a felony firearms violation warrant. After placing the subject into custody, the

arresting officer asked if there were any weapons in the vehicle and the subject replied “no.” The vehicle was impounded. A short time later the tow company called and reported it had located a handgun in the vehicle. The subject was interviewed by detectives and provided consent to search his vehicle. The firearm was recovered and the subject was booked into the Pierce County Jail for unlawful possession of a firearm.

DOMESTIC DISPUTE

• At 8:31 p.m. Jan. 22, officers responded to a report of a physical domestic dispute between roommates in the 500 block of Main Street. The caller reported being slapped in the face and thrown out of the house. Officers arrested the suspect for assault. After the suspect was in the patrol car he advised the officer that the victim grows marijuana in the house. Officers asked for and received permission from both roommates to check the house and discovered seven marijuana plants. One roommate went to the Puyallup jail for assault in the fourth degree/domestic violence and the other went to Pierce County jail for manufacturing a controlled substance.

FRAUD ATTEMPT

• At 7:25 p.m. Jan. 17, an officer was dispatched to a business in the 1300 block of Main Street for a report of an attempted fraud that had just occurred. The victim reported that a female suspect tried to pass obvious counterfeit money and ran down the street when confronted by the employee. Another female who drove the suspect to the scene was waiting on scene for police to arrive. An officer contacted the female driver who was waiting. The driver said her neighbor asked her for a ride to the store. The driver provided the ride and stayed in the car while the suspect went inside. The driver advised that she saw the suspect had some kind of altercation with the employee inside and her neighbor came running out, jumped into the vehicle and told the driver to drive fast. The driver declined to leave the scene and the suspect jumped out of the vehicle and ran down the street. The driver then went in to talk to the employee. The driver provided the address of the suspect and officers went to her house. After a short investigation she was booked into Pierce County jail for forgery.

MARIJUANA

• At about 3:44 p.m. Jan. 22, officers arrived at a home in the 400 block of Cherry Avenue for a report of a possible burglary in progress. Communications informed officers that a neighbor reported observing three males arrive and attempt to open the door of the residence. They then went to the garage, manipulated the handle, opened the garage door, entered, then shut the door behind them. The house was reported to be vacant by the caller. When officers arrived they could hear people talking inside the garage. They opened the door and saw the three male subjects, one of whom dropped a small plastic bag on the ground. An officer asked one subject what they were doing there and he said that they were smoking marijuana. The officer asked what he dropped and he said he dropped his marijuana that he was getting ready to roll and smoke. One subject was later booked into the Pierce County jail for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and another was referred to the Juvenile Prosecutors Office for possession of marijuana.
