Police chief, student council members sworn in

Sophia DeMarco and Ian Tobius are the newest members of the Enumclaw City Council.

Enumclaw interim police chief Bob Huebler took the oath of office the evening of April 9, formalizing his appointment as Enumclaw’s chief of police, and two young people were sworn in as the city’s newest “Students on Council.”

The ceremonies took place during a regular meeting of the Enumclaw City Council.

Huebler, left, has spent more than 20 years with the city police force and was promoted to chief after serving in an interim role since late last summer.

Sophia DeMarco and Ian Tobius, below, are the newest students to serve as representatives on the council.

The program encourages students to take an active interest in government by attending meetings and reporting on school activities. DeMarco attends Enumclaw Middle School and Tobius attends Thunder Mountain Middle School.
