Portion of Lake Sawyer Pkwy closes for a year

A bypass road will connect Ten Trails Parkway to Lake Swayer Road.

A portion of Lake Sawyer Road SE in west Black Diamond will be closed for approximately a year, but it should do little to affect traffic.

Oakpointe recently sent out a notice to Ten Trails residents announcing the closure would begin Oct. 25.

The portion of Lake Sawyer Road being closed is directly north of the roundabout at Roberts Drive and Willow Avenue SE.

In order to access Lake Sawyer Road while this portion is closed, Oakpointe has constructed a bypass road that connects Ten Trails Parkway (just east of the roundabout at Roberts Drive and Willow Avenue) to Lake Swayer Road.

According to Oakpointe, closing this portion of Lake Sawyer road will allow workers to update the city water supply lines underneath the road and begins the process of lengthening Ten Trails Parkway to state Route 169.

No city money is being used for the project; the bill is being 100 percent footed by Oakpointe.
