Procession for State Trooper Radulescu may slow morning traffic on state Route 167

Commuters on northbound State Route 167 may want to get an early start as the funeral procession for fallen Trooper Tony Radulescu is scheduled to use the roadway en route to the memorial service at the ShoWare Center in Kent.

Commuters on northbound State Route 167 may want to get an early start as the funeral procession for fallen Trooper Tony Radulescu is scheduled to use the roadway en route to the memorial service at the ShoWare Center in Kent.

The roadway will bve subject to shutdowns beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 1.

The Washington Department of Transportation and the Washington State Patrol encourage motorists to find alternate routes; expect delays; rolling slowdowns; and ramp and lane closures as the procession travels through Kitsap, Pierce and King counties on State Routes 3, 16, 166, 512, 167, 516 and Interstate 5. The following ramps and roadways are subject to closure between 10 a.m. and noon:

  • South Tacoma Way at the I-5/SR 512 Interchange
  • Intersection of 112th and Steele streets
  • Ramps from northbound and southbound I-5 to SR 512
  • All ramps to eastbound SR 512 between I-5 and SR 167
  • SR 512 ramp to northbound SR 167
  • Northbound SR 167 ramp to eastbound SR 516
  • Eastbound lanes of SR 516 at SR 167

The procession begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Kitsap Mall in Silverdale heading southbound on SR 3 toward Gorst where it will turn eastbound on SR 16 exiting to SR 166 through Port Orchard. The procession will continue through Port Orchard before returning to eastbound SR 16 towards Pierce County.

From SR 16 it will turn south onto I-5, exiting onto South Tacoma Way at the SR 512 Interchange.

The Kitsap County procession will then travel to the Mountain View Funeral Home on Steilacoom Boulevard in Lakewood where it will convene with members of  Trooper Radulescu’s family. The group will travel south on South Tacoma Way and onto 112th Street where they will join another group of procession vehicles waiting at Joint Base Lewis McChord.

The entire procession will head east on 112th Street, turn left onto  Steele Street, and enter eastbound SR 512. From SR 512 it will turn northbound onto SR 167 in Puyallup before turning east on SR 516 and proceeding to the ShoWare Center on West James Street in Kent.
