Puget Sound Partnership’s Leadership Council will meet Jan. 29 in Olympia

Discussions on how human wellbeing relates to Puget Sound recovery and what’s being done to save the region’s resident orca population are among the Puget Sound Partnership Leadership Council meeting topics this month.

Discussions on how human wellbeing relates to Puget Sound recovery and what’s being done to save the region’s resident orca population are among the Puget Sound Partnership Leadership Council meeting topics this month.

The council, which serves as this state agency’s governing body, will meet from 9:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at the Natural Resources Building, Conference Room 172, 1111 Washington Street SE, Olympia.

Agenda highlights include:

• A discussion on how human wellbeing indicators can be used to support decision making and adaptive management of Puget Sound recovery. Presentations will include the results of three pilot projects, a survey and social science review. Leadership Council members will be asked to adopt human wellbeing indicators as part of the Puget Sound Vital Signs in May.

• Discuss an oil spill response Near Term Action to the Puget Sound Action Agenda, as part of the Habitat Strategic Initiative.

• A briefing on the demographic status and projections for resident orcas in Puget Sound, as well as what is being done and needs to be done to bring the population closer to recovery targets.
