Rainier School incident sends staffer to hospital | Buckley police reports March 20-26

CLIENT VS. STAFF: Officers were dispatched the evening of March 26 to Rainier School following a report of an assault. It was determined that a 24-year-old client had assaulted a 26-year-old male staff member who possibly was injured as a result. The staff member was transported to the hospital for further evaluation. The case is under review.

ASSAULT ALLEGED: A Coul Avenue resident told police her 4-year-old daughter had been sexually assaulted by a babysitter.

DOG BITE: An officer was dispatched the afternoon of March 22 to a Fourth Street residence where a woman reported her son had been attacked by a dog kept at a nearby home. The child suffered puncture wounds to both his buttocks and hand. A city officer gathered information and forwarded the case to Pierce County Animal Control.

IMPAIRED DRIVERS• An officer stopped a speeding vehicle at 1:59 a.m. March 20 at state Route 410 and Lower Cemetery Road. After performing voluntary tests the driver was placed under arrest for driving under the influence.• On March 22, an officer stopped a vehicle at SR 410 and Main Street for improper lane usage. After performing voluntary tests the driver was placed under arrest for driving under the influence.• Later on March 22, an officer stopped a speeding vehicle on Church Street. After performing voluntary tests the driver was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. • On March 23, a man was stopped after failing to dim his headlights. It was determined he was under the influence of liquor and/or drugs; he was arrested for DUI and later released with a citation and a court date.• A driver was stopped at 3:23 a.m. March 23 for improper lane travel at SR 410 and Main Street. He was found to have red, watery eyes, a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, slurred speech and mood swings. He refused to take voluntary tests and was placed under arrest for DUI.• Police were dispatched at 4:10 a.m. March 23 to the vicinity of Spiketon Road and A Street where a vehicle had struck a utility pole. After an investigation, a man was placed under arrest for DUI.• An officer was dispatched the afternoon of March 25 to the vicinity of Church and Hill streets where a vehicle had struck a stop sign and was blocking traffic. After an on-scene investigation, the male driver was arrested for DUI and for driving with a suspended license. He refused to take tests at the scene and was booked into the Enumclaw jail.
